We are a Christian congregation committed to sharing God’s love and personal relationship with Jesus Christ to our community and the world. We believe in the Bible as inspired Word of God, the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and the ministry of the Holy Spirit in reconciling the world with Christ. Our families come from different ethnic backgrounds and together we build up God’s Ohana in Waipio Community in leeward Oahu. We meet regularly for worship, fellowship, discipleship, and evangelism to encourage one another in love and maturity in the faith.
We belong to the association of Southern Baptist churches under the Hawai’i Pacific Baptist Convention and in the ultimate unity of believers as one body of Jesus Christ. Small as we are in Waipio Community, our church provides leadership and coordination of the Hawai’i Seafarers Ministry, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to the crew of Hawaii’s fleet of longline fishing vessels. As many of the fishermen come from the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Pacific Island nations, it is an opportunity to leverage the ethnic diversity of our church to perform international missions without leaving the state. The Seafarers Ministry meets the needs of the fishermen in holistic way including medical and dental services and provisions of food and clothing. Support to the ministry comes from a partnership with other churches and fellowships in Hawaii, as well as funds and services from charitable organizations, medical and dental professionals and students, and individual volunteers.
In support of the statewide directive on COVID-19 pandemic safety measures and to mitigate the spread of the virus in our community and family, the Waipio Community Baptist Church (WCBC) temporarily suspends on-site worship services, prayer meetings, and bible studies starting on March 16, 2020. However, we are also admonished in Hebrews 10:25 “to spur one another toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, but encouraging one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching”. The WCBC is already setup to the task of continuing this habit of meeting through digital and social media platforms. These services are available on live streaming in Facebook Live. Please contact Pastor Jerry Saludez (Phone: 808-672-5678; email: pastorjerrysaludez@gmail.com) for more information on how to access the live streaming and archived podcasts.
Meanwhile, you may continue to financially support the WCBC and its ministries by mailing in your tithes and offerings to WCBC at 94-1210 Waipio Uka Street, Waipahu, Hawaii 96797. Another option is to make a direct deposit by PayPal or bank transfer to WCBC account with the Bank of Hawaii. Should you choose the direct deposit, please let Redem Torres know by calling or texting (808-224-2672) so she can provide you further guidance and for proper accounting of church finances and fiscal responsibility as a non-profit organization.
We hope and pray that this pandemic situation will be contained soon and that we can once again bodily worship and fellowship together as a church. Be strong in the faith and trust that those who are in Christ are eternally secured in the midst of a storm. Maranatha!
